Simulating a criminal trial, Witness Examination (or WitEx to old hands) sees you prepare either a criminal defence or prosecution and present your case before a judge! Master the skills of Examination-in-Chief, Cross-Examination, Criminal Procedure, and of course Objections, in a friendly yet competitive setting.

Open only to First Years, Junior Witness Examination is the perfect way to develop your skills, meet new friends, network with professionals and have a tonne of fun in an easier competition designed to introduce you to the wonderful world of MSLS Comps.


Time Commitment

  • Two general rounds over two weeks.

  • Knockout finals and grand final

  • Given 48 hours prep time

Dates

  • Crash Course: 10 March 2025 (Monday). Meet at the Grounds Cafe at 2.45pm to be escorted to ECL2 for a 3pm start.

  • First Question Release: 14 March 2025 at 5pm

  • Round 1: 17 March 2025

  • Round 2: 24 March 2025

  • Quarter-Finals: 31 March 2025

  • Semi-Finals: 7 April 2025

  • Grand Final: Week of 14 April 2025 (TBC)
